JENN GOODWIN 

 

Jenn Goodwin is a Tkaronto/Toronto based dance artist, curator, and artistic producer. A settler, feminist, learner, and mother of two, much of her art and producing practice focuses on dismantling barriers to art for both artists and publics, temporary art in public space and championing artists and communities by way of their art practices. 

Her work and collaborations often explore the play, power, and politics of the body in motion, the feminization of public space, women’s presence, absence, and resilience, and the choreographic of the everyday. Over the last 25 years her dance work has been shown across Canada and internationally.  Goodwin founded DoorTODoor Dances during the Covid-19 pandemic with Sarah Doucet, Kate Nankervis & Zoja Smutny to deliver dances to the doorsteps of long-term care homes.

She is currently the Curator of Public Programs at The Toronto Biennial of Art. Prior to that she worked with the City of Toronto Arts & Culture Department as the inaugural program lead on Nuit Blanche working with artists Rebecca Belmore, Ai Weiwei, Ebony G. Patterson, Craig Walsh, Lars Jan, Brendan Fernandes, RISE, to name only a few, to supporting emerging artists paths and ideas. Jenn was also lead of Programs for Year of Public Art/ArtworxTO.  

Goodwin is a graduate of the Master of Visual Studies - Curatorial Studies program at the University of Toronto.  Previously, she received a BFA from Concordia University in Contemporary Dance with a minor in video.   

Goodwin has curated performance and exhibitions across Canada and her dance work has been shown in Newfoundland, Vancouver and Montreal, Australia, Brussels, Amsterdam, Japan, New York City, and extensively in Toronto..  

Goodwin is one half of the art band MORTIFIED with Camilla Singh which is a band that uses choreography, drum kits, tap dancing, and cheerleading as its instruments, and was co-founder of The Movement Movement with Jessica Rose.

She lives in Toronto with her husband and their two sons.
